We’ve been experimenting with a visualization of 15 years of earthquake data. The data begins in 2000, and ends with the latest records in November 2015. All quakes are of magnitude 4 or over. The brighter the dot, the bigger the quake. The quakes are marked at their epicentres, the points on the surface directly above the locations where the quakes actually took place. We plan to create a version with a month / year counter. Another version will show the dots in 3D space rather than mapped to the earth’s surface. In this 3D version you will be able to see the actual locations beneath the earth’s surface where the quakes occured.
