Created by Wildpath and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, ‘The Little Brown Bird’ understanding species loss meant understanding geography. The film follows a dedicated conservation team as they work to save America’s most endangered songbird, the Florida Grasshopper Sparrow.
422 South created dynamic motion graphic maps that brought the film’s geographic story to life. By mapping the Florida Grasshopper Sparrow’s historic range alongside its current habitats, we turned decades of habitat loss into a clear, instant visual for the audience. Adding key landmarks like Tampa and Orlando gave viewers immediate context, showing just how close these endangered birds are to expanding cities.
The documentary has since earned widespread acclaim on the festival circuit, picking up honors like the Wildlife Conservation Award at the International Wildlife Film Festival and the Audience Award for Best Florida Short at the Florida Film Festival.
