Florida Bear Tracks

Wildpath for National Geographic

We were asked by Director KT Brydon at Wildpath to create maps for her short documentary film, Florida Bear Tracks. The maps reveal the segmentation of the Black Bear population that was once connected across the state of Florida. Due to ever-expanding human development, the Black Bears have separated into 7 subpopulations with 3 of those subpopulations in serious decline…

Florida Bear Tracks follows Shelby Shiver and her all-female team of biologists working with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) as they embark on a critical mission to capture and tag black bears. Their goal is to gather vital population data in order to monitor the population’s health and assess how they are using the Florida Wildlife Corridor.

‘Florida Bear Tracks’ can be viewed on the National Geographic YouTube channel here. More information on the project can also be found on the Wildpath website here.
