Whooping Crane

Cornell University

Cornell University approached us once again to produce a one shot film showcasing the spring migration of North America’s tallest bird, the Whooping Crane. An endangered species and the rarest of 15 crane species worldwide, the cranes begin their migration in Aransas, Texas with their final destination being Wood Buffalo National Park in Alberta, Canada, with several stopover points along the way.

Using telemetry data for a family of birds on their migration in Spring 2022, our job was to create a short film not only showing the incredibly long journey these birds make every year but also the story behind those birds, the challenges they face on their journey and the severe loss of habitat they are having to adapt to.
