422 South teamed up with Emporium Productions to produce graphics and CGI for a fast-turnaround documentary ’Turbulence: How Safe Is Your Flight’. An account of the extreme turbulence encountered by Singapore Airlines flight SQ321, from London to Singapore in May 2024.
The 60-minute film explores what happened on flight SQ321, with personal interviews with passengers, pilots and flight crew. Alongside these first-hand accounts, climate and aviation scientists give their insight into what turbulence is, what causes it and whether climate change could be a factor in its increasing severity and frequency.
Our task was to provide graphics and CGI that engaged the audience and supported the storytelling of this shocking event. Using data from the official investigation report 422 South generated visuals and simulations that faithfully represent the astonishing experience both inside and outside the aircraft.
‘Turbulence: How Safe Is Your Flight’ will be broadcast on ITV, in the UK, and across many international broadcasters in the coming weeks.
